A lot has progressed since the last time I've talked to you guys! Let me catch you up, so, I've been promoting a band with my group: Hailey Goff and Josh Keller. Together we worked to created the name "In Debt" for our band while we creatively produced marketing and distribution ideas to our target audience: middle class boys and girls around the ages of 15-30. To do this we came up with some pretty cool ideas such as producing a music video, all contributing ultimately to our main concept of having a relatable band in which each song in their album has a different scenario or ideas that our target audience can really relate to.

To do this we came up with some pretty cool ideas such as producing a music video, all contributing ultimately to our main concept of having a relatable band in which each song in their album has a different scenario or ideas that our target audience can really relate to.
I have to say that it was quite difficult to create an entire brand from the ground up. However the research and universal music group gave us very helpful information that was essential to making the right choices for our band. The two bands we extensive investigated were Imagine Dragons and Pearl Jam, both with the same genre as our band In Debt. We discovered that a website would be very beneficial for us, while including links to our social media, tour dates, merchandise, contacts, our music video, etc. This informed our research choices as we also saw some things that they were willing to do for their target audience. For example, Pearl Jams fixed their music video to go into a target commercial and we made our music video very appealing to our TA. Through our research we uncovered that having a profound and well done website and social media presence is vital to the overall success of our band.
A really fun part of our campaign was that cultivation of new and engaging marketing creations! We did our best to market to our target audience the best way we knew how. Using social media platforms such as Instagram and twitter were smart for our target audience based on the demographics we found and that a large amount of our target audience is on these apps. We decided not to make a Facebook page based on the numbers we found of our TA on that app. Our plan is to use all of these apps differently so people won’t be annoyed with the same information on all of them. In addition, we made merchandise that is simple, being black with white print so our TA would wear it out and enjoy wearing it while we got free advertisements. It was so intriguing and refreshing to learn all of the things that I did throughout this process. Throughout the music video I learned many things that will assist me during my portfolio project. For example, I learned that much more planning is required before going to film and shoot, plus more filming may be required once the editing process takes place, so leave lots of time to do this. This plays into time management which is a skill that I need to master especially going into the portfolio project. This project really brought to my attention just how I will complete my portfolio project and that I would like to do it with as much time as I can put into it and not procrastinate to that I produce the best possible work that I can because in this project I was restricted to a few days before the deadline and had to film in the rain. This inhibited my creative process and I would like to avoid this going forward if possible.
