No matter what I inevitably chose to do with this project which is ever so coming up uncontrollably, there are certain basic conditions that I need to follow and things that I should do. Based on Data From a Century of Cinema movies have evolved and there are things that people enjoy watching now that in the past maybe wouldn’t have been as good. Heres a list of some of the new findings.
-shorter cuts (Did you guys know that the average length of shots in 1930 was 12 seconds whereas now it is only 2.5 seconds? This could because the attention span of people declines every year.)
-different patterns of shots (this is used for two reasons 2) the technology that has been created every year allows this to be easier and 1) it keeps the natural conditions of human nature to have a small attention span at bay.)
-more motion (this method along with all the others maintains viewers attention as well. it is important however to walk the fine line between annoying your audience and intriguing them, known as the “triangle of tolerability”)
-changing light (movies are getting darker as time goes on, and this along with colors can be utilized to draw visual interest to the films)
With all of this new-found information going forward, regardless of what I chose to create I will embrace these components that have been proven to be of interest to the audience of today.
my brilliant citation! :)
